My Precious Time in Leedsmet…

 It feels like yesterday when I first time came to Leeds (10 September 2007), I never imagine I will passed this time so fast. I put my picture above to remember about Freshers Festival when I first time in Leeds Met, a lot of nice things happened in this beloved university. I have many friends from all different background and different nations around the world. I think I do not have just education, but most important I have a new experience here.

Now, I reach my final time in Leeds Met, I have to focus on my disertation in 3 months. Hopefully me and all my friends will done our project and can gain all the benefit here. In the other hand I feel pretty sad about finish my study, but in one hand I’am also feel glad that I’ve been passing all these things. I hope in the future I can still keep contact with my friends and my teachers, so this memory will still remain forever.

See You my friends, perhaps we could meet again in a different situation. Bye…..

Social Media Today

Examples of social media applications are Google Groups (reference, social networking), Wikipedia (reference), MySpace (social networking), Facebook (social networking), Last.fm (personal music), YouTube (social networking and video sharing), Second Life (virtual reality), Flickr (photo sharing), Twitter (social networking and microblogging) and other microblogs are Jaiku and Pownce. Many of these social media services can be integrated via Social network aggregation platforms like Mybloglog and Plaxo.

Social media today is a moderated online businness community  for social media bloggers, marketers, PR, and media professional. It is also has more posts automatically submitted everyday then we can possibily use.

Sales Promotion in Relation to PR

Public Relation is sometimes confused with Sales Promotion. This may be because Sales Promotion does bring the producer closer to the consumer. It is a more personal form of marketing communication than traditional media advertising. While it does have Public Relation aspects. It is foolish for Sales Promotion offer to cause disappontment, for example when delivery of a premium offer delayed – Sales Promotion is not Public Relation. Sales Promotion is consist of short term schemes, usually at the point-of-sale but also in direct response marketing, to launch product or revive or increase sales.

In the other hand, Public Relation is management tools to promote and make a good profile of the company, although it has same purpose with all marketing activities such as Sales Promotion, but Public Relation is more than the marketing, and has long term goal. The purpose of Public Relation is not specific in one termof task, but is multipurpose because with Public Relation organization able to communicate two side with its audiences, and the image that being build by Public Relation will keep in the long term.

People does not just use Wikipedia for study, but also for their work and even for find many information, such as history, entretaintment, education, etc. According from its home website Wikipedia attracts 683 million visitors annualy, and was reading over 10 million articles in 253 languages.

For me, Wikipedia has been the most favorite source, like I mention above, not just for me to study, but also very useful when I syill working and if I just want to find some information. Wikipedia reaches all the world, so everybody can access its information. Also, Wikipedia is the first particular “Web 2.0″ service mentioned, followed by YouTube and  MySpace.

The one that makes me confused many people and teacher does not allowed their student to take reference from wikipedia for their work or assignment. In my oppinion, I think Wikipedia very useful, especially for study, because it cover almost everything in the world. Even if I want to get information about something in my country that not popular (for example heroes from Indonesia) I can find in Wikipedia.

I think It is very good and useful if we use Wikipedia as our source in finding data or information, besides it is very easy to access (through web), Wikipedia cover almost everything in almost every language, and the format makes reader easy to read.

Television Advertising

My dissertation topic is about Television Adveetising. Why I choosed this topic? It because television is a popular media for the people. Although recently, the using of web media or internet quite high, but I think television still become more important for people. Television not just provide good channel about movie, news or song, but also can provide a good advertisiment for the people who wacth it.

Nowadays, many advertisement bombarded television everyday. They compete to be the best advertisement for the people. In this case I want to talk about one of good advertisement of Cadbury. I really like this advertisement because its very simple but if u wacth it, u will like it. I think the design that very simple, and how guerilla can play drum makes the people like this advertisement, and also its colaboration with Phil Collin song make the advertisement more “life” and make people smile after that.

To make a good advertisement, you do not have make in a sopisthicated technology or using a famous people, but the important thing is the idea that can attract people like this advertisement. To be honest although I think this advertisement does not related with the chocholate, but it makes me want to buy Cadbury after I wacthed it. So, this advertisement at least already make one people buy Cadbury, it is me. Click the video below…

Due to many travelling, separate places, and find antoher friends, Facebook has become mostwanted for them, especially age between 15-45. They use Facebook to keep contact with their friends and relatives anywhere in the world, because Facebook does not limited by geographic area, which is the advantage of it.

Mark Zuckerberg founded Facebook while he still study in Harvard University on 2004. At the beginning the website membership was initially limited to only Harvard students, but soon was expanded to the entire Ivy League. Later it expanded further to include any university student, then High School students, and finally to anyone aged 13 and over.

The website has more than 69 million active users worldwide. In 2007 the website ranking’s among all websites, in terms of traffic, increased from 60 th to 7th, according to Alexa. It is also the most popular website for uploading photos, with 14 million uploaded daily. Compare than similar networking like Friendster, Facebook has more advantage than its rival, such as more features, such as music, games, ect. Facebook is currently the top social networking site in many commonwealth nations such as, Canada, United Kingdom, and Australia.

It is very clear now that social networking website like Facebook has very useful for people nowadays for their social life and even for take opinion from other person about their work. It is also the most popular website to find new friends and keep in touch with them. Not just young person who like this website, also adult and business man usually use this website as well in their daily activity.

The importance of internet

images.jpg  This past few weeks I was busy to find literature review about Branding for my dissertation. During my searching about the literature review I tried to find the subject in the library and internet. By using internet I searched through Mintel and Keynote to find out about Branding and the company as the object. Through my searching with internet I realizethat internet has changed the way of people life these days. With internet (Mintel and Keynote) I can find the data I need so fast and very accurate. Besides the accuration of the data, we can save time in our searching, and we can find the data from all over the world and from different year.

Can not be denied that internet and web media recently very important for the people, not just for me to do my dissertation, but also for people to work. Every office in the world must be have connection through internet to support their business. Internet can use to promote the business, help the government to provide their policy or regulation, and also very useful for the company to provide online booking for customer such as Hotel, rent car, or even for transfer paying in a Bank.

According to Wikipedia “The internet is a worldwide, publicly accessible series of interconnected computer networks that transmit data by packet swithcing using the standard internet protocol (IP).” At the beginning internet was using by military to supportthem in their activity, but now it was growing to be a business tools. In summary, from my opinion, the using of internet nowadays very useful and already become a needs for every people, and as student, I’am very helpful by this invention.
